Throw in some stretching and abdominal work. Adjust diet accordingly. There is no way to remove fat from specific areas, other than surgery of course.
I can't recommend David Marshall's Bodydoctor book (around a tenner on Amazon - and probably cheaper on ebay) more highly. I've tried loads of gym routines devised by trainers but none of them got the fast results I wanted.
Marshall's routine is quite long (hour and a half each session), but full of common sense and even after just one week (in which I lost two inches off my waist) you see results.
The focus is more on getting fit, but the by-product is that you shrink in all the right places - the focus is on inch-loss rather than weight loss. When I joined yet another gym last year, I told them I had my own programme and followed the Bodydoctor plan instead.
Even Rio Ferdinand has followed it to improve his fitness!
It uses lots of cardio and weight training using normal machines found at every gym, done in a certain order so you don't ache like mad the following day.
Good luck!

I would say the best exercise is cycling, its so much more enjoyable than being in a gym. I started cycling because i couldnt afford a car anymore but then realised i prefered it! It was painful for the first few weeks as you use different muscles i guess but if you carry on i'm sure you'll loose weight. Its hard to not eat the junk but if you dont already then cut out all processed food, like ready meals and frozen food, also fizzy drinks (even diet ones) or squash. have water or fruit juice. Snack on things like fruit, natural yoghurt, raw veg, nuts and seeds, rice cakes. make your own soups and smoothies. But not just for a while, eat like this forever! Good luck
Thanks - just thought it you're determined to join the gym it's the best way to go. There's more info at http://www.bodydoctor.com/ and loads of inspirational stories for when you need a boost!
I also agree cycling is great - my boyfriend swears by it and has a super flat stomach despite not going to the gym. But in this weather I'd rather head to a warm gym with my iPod!
I use my local community centre gym (in Preston) which is only 15 a month with no joining fee. With Marshall's programme you don't need fancy gyms or equipment, which is great.

Hi Wennywizard. It's the St Augustine's Centre in Avenham in Preston city centre. It's 15 if you live nearby but I think around 18 if you live further out or 12 for students. There's no saunas etc, but it's all really new and the equipment is bang up to date. Classes such as pilates and circuit training are 2.50 a session but I'd rather pay for these as I go than pay 40 a month for lots of stuff I don't need.
There's also a lovely little coffee shop and free internet access.

Might see you down there some time!

Reading all that you ladies had to say about Marvelon I am shocked.
I have been on Marvelon for over 2 years and since it was my first pill I didnt realy know what to expect. I never felt sick or unwell when I started but now my list of problems are ridiculous and although my mum told me its because of the pill, I never once beleived that a small pill you take everyday could do so much... I now get...
- Severe mood swings
- Cry for no reason
- Need to feel reassured
- Gained alot of weight
- Depression
- Panic attacks
- Lack of sleep
- Sex drive lost
- Violent during PMT
- Did not ease my PMT pains
- and the list is endless...
Thank so much ladies it's time to try something new,
