I rarely revisit threads I have taken part in so I respond rather late to THECORBYLOON's question to me. From memory, when I previously googled, I came up with a population density of around 1200 for the Netherlands and around 400 for England (both per square kilometre). Now when I check again I find that Wikipedia gives figures whereby the two are almost identical. Because of the time lapsed, I can't see where I went wrong before, almost certainly a case of too much haste.
I did intentionally go for a comparison between the whole of the two countries, not one country versus part of the other. I can only offer an apology for the error, although the premise for the thread still seems to me to be just so much hot air designed for certain appetites. If/when Scotland gains independence, it will perhaps be of more relevance.
