Is there a scam whereby someone offers to buy something from you and they give you a bankers draft. The draft includes payment and 'shipping' but is more than you want so you pay them back the difference?

I've heard of something like this before - yes, don't touch it with a bargepole.
Looks at this from Related Posts some years back http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Question232814.html
Yes i have heard of it. You pay them back and then the bankers draft is withdrawn as fraudulent. You lose the cash you paid them back.

If you have a bankers draft, do not pay them back any difference and do not send the goods until you have physically been into the bank and had someone allow you to withdraw money against the amount deposited.
The overpayment scam used to be common in the days of cheques.
The bankers draft scam is often used to pay for vehicles - and the draft turns out to be bogus.
