Oops! DT 27390 It's the only cryptic i can do - my 91 year old brother-in-law taught me how and it's what he does. The clue I was stuck with had been asked and I had the same letters st?e?d as the asker. It is 3d Odds studied in advance (6) If spread sp+read (studied) is correct, 8a Leave suddenly half of Deal affected (6) must be say decamp rather than defected (which is half of the two last words). It's not enough for me to have the answers, I want to know why and become better! (It's taken ages to type this as the spelling corrector keeps trying to correct dashes!)
