I've enjoyed the Spectator itself since the days when Jeffrey Bernard used to write his Low Life column, and then Taki did High Life.

I'm way behind with the Spectator, and have just completed 2138. Could somebody kindly enlighten me re the title "Hundred centimes". What does the "hundred" have to do with price of fish?

Wasn't it just that 'c' and 'C' are abbreviations for 'hundred' and 'centimes'?

I've been using it here and on EV & Listener threads for a good few years.

He died a week or two ago aged 82. RIP.
