If it's induction it won't work with a clay pot at all, only pots with magnetic bases work on Induction hobs, they also don't light up on the cooking surfaces like halogen.

Halogen- very bright light
Induction- nothing special visible. (I'm gas...so may not be right!)
does it get hot?

I wouldn't put a clay pot on a halogen hob, even with a diffuser...and on an induction hob, it won't work.
