We bought a small magnolia bush four years ago. Since then it has grown to about 6ft, filled out with lots of leaves, but no flowers. Does anyone know why? The bungalow opposite has a huge one in their garden, but obviously there is no germination or whatever from it!
It appears it is not uncommon for them to take a long time to establish, and even longer to flower! hope this helps Media URL: http://www.burncoose.co.uk/site/page.cfm?page_ref=how_to_care_for_Magnolias Description:
Two which flower sooner are magnolia stellata which has white rather floppy flowers with narrow petals so the effect is starry, and a new magnolia called Susan which has beautiful plum coloured erect goblet shaped flowers. Traditional kinds of magnolia do take years to get going, rather like the old kinds of camellia did.
Stellata http://apps.rhs.org.uk/plantselector/plant?plantid=1226 I think there is a pink one too

Hello, Try giving it a good handful of potassium. Ifind it works for me The buds form in the autumn prior to flowering I usually give the potassium at the end of spring
