how to stop the dog barking at everything we have had him to the vet's for the snip 12 months back he is no better apart from the barking he is a good dog he is a cross between a pug and a boston terrier
When he barks he has learned he gets attention. Once he starts to bark, turn your back on him literally, with your arms folded and keep your back to him until he stops barking. He will eventually get fed up and stop. Once he learns he gets ignored by barking he won't do it. I've done this with my dog after watching advice on tv and it worked! But,you must stick to it without any reaction to him,or it won't work! Good luck for a quieter life;-)
there is no need ever to put a shock collar on a dog for barking! It is natural for a dog to bark ! Please do not ever go down a cruel route that is contra to getting results!
Here is an extract from the Cesar Milan official website :-
"And finally there are bark collars that automatically set off an interruptor when the dog wearing the bark collar barks. Some bark collars emit a noise, some bark collars a blast of air or citronella and some use an electric stimulation between two points on the collar that limit the feeling to that area. They can all work. My experience has been that the electronic one is the most successful and most important only the dog wearing it feels the interrupter. The citronella spray bark collar and the noise bark collar can be triggered if other dogs close by are barking. With any form of bark collar, however, I would recommend you seek expert advice before using one."
Perhaps when you had him at the vets for the snip they took the wrong bits if you were expecting that to stop him barking. Cesar Milan's methods are cruel and unnecessary. Give him plenty of exercise and attention by playing with him and training him. Then give him something to chew on to keep him occupied.
