Exhaust popping

I have a 2 year old Renault Clio 1.2. I am getting a popping sound coming from the exhaust on tickover. It doesn't make any noise when you rev it up and I can't see the exhaust blowing anywhere. Any ideas what it might be?

there could be some water lying in the silencer

yeah or it could also be your cams rounded off thus makin it fire wrongly on tickover.....
