Most of what we understood about the case just came from the Italian TV ...

... says senior Italian Appeal Judge!

Guilty beyond reasonable doubt? Err ...

We were confused.

We had no idea one way or the other.

So we ignored the Law, ignored our doubts, and found them "guilty" anyway.

Because that's how Italian "justice" works.

Hey, what's that kangaroo doing in here?

Just saying.

It's all got a bit ridiculous really hasn't it. Awful for everyone concerned and poor Meredith's family seem to be no nearer the truth than they were in the beginning.
... so if they didn't do it, who did?
Any country that would jail their own scientists for failing to predict and earthquake has to be a joke. I don't know if they did it or not but the judiciary in Italy cannot be taken seriously.
Probably the chap who's already in prison for it, Rudy someone!
seems he's suggesting the jurors were getting information from the media and presumably the internet as well as in court.

That happens here too. They haven't really decided what to do about jurors who go home and google the names of the defendants, or original news reports from when the crime was committed.

I don't think this is a specifically Italian problem at all.
