Tomorrow is a BIG day for the Curling teams.

The semi finals.

After "that" last stone in the play offs today, we know that the boys can play under pressure.

And we definitely know that the girls can do it. Eve Muirhead is focused. She's cool. She's the ice maiden.

I think we can do it. I really do.

Come on, Team GB.

COME ON, THE CURLING TEAMS !!

Thanks for the explanations cloverjo & Ken. Seems strange to give up the opportunity to score a point not knowing what may happen in the following end.

Clearly I've been watching the curling on and off since it began and still have no idea of the rules or tactics. Must pay more attention.

Come on the men!!
I think the gist of it is that teams tend to look to be scoring at least two points if possible when they have the last stone advantage. When you are also two shots behind, it's even more important to take that two points as opposed to one, because then you'd be one down and the other team would be aiming to score two points, so if they get it right you could be three down.

It's a judgement call, anyway, and several times it looked in the seventh/ eighth/ ninth ends that GB could have grabbed the two points they wanted -- but each time a good shot from Canada stopped that from happening.
Sweden just won, so it's GB v. Switzerland for the Bronze and Sweden v. Canada for the gold.
It's the turn of the men now, against European and World Champions Sweden. So that's all right then. Looking to be one of those blanked ends to start with.
Following on from was said by Ken earlier to my question(posted at 12.09), in the 6th end the GBR men slid first and won the end 1-0. GBR then slid first in the 7th end.

Why was that? Do they change the rules as they go along?

Yaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy !!!!!!!!!!

HE'S DONE IT !!!!!!!!!!!

The boys are in the Final !

Silver or Gold for Team GB !!!
The least favourite of the events I watch during the WO's but very well done indeed.
Woooo - that was close :)
Well done the boys. All we want now is bronze for the girls.
The ice hockey is warming up nicely, shame they don't 'duke it out' like they do in the NHL though, it's all part and parcel of the game there!

I don't advocate violence but every now and again it's nice to see sportsmen warm each others ears up a bit, settle their differences of opinion and skate on manfully.
I'm really enjoying the range of music on the ice skating- just had Pink Floyd on. The dancers aren't bad either
Well, what a day .... I avoided all news today and have just finished watching the action on catch up. The ups and down of the men and women's curling was an emotional roller coaster. Well done the boys.

How about the Russian couple in the Snowboarding slalom is morning? He won gold in the men's and his wife won a medal in the women's!

By all accounts it hasn't made up for the Russians going out in the hockey though.
