It does the same with Firefox Hans, as I use that and get these problems. Saying that the last 2 days have been quite good.

We've killed off some types of heavy-loading ad, which might improve performance on slower/older machines.

For Hans - you will see from previous postings that Chrome is indeed affected at times.

I thought it was a nicer way of putting it than "decrepit" Prudie :)

The web has changed a lot in the last couple of years, and is a lot more "heavyweight". There's tons more video and interactive stuff going on where it wasn't before. For a while the web was getting lighter, and manufacturers "bet" on this, meaning there's a ton of lightweight machines out there with not quite enough "oomph" to keep up with a "fatter" web.

I haven`t read the replies here but I have had a few 'outages' on AB. I just had another one (the 'busy' page with the picture of the cat). It also takes a while to load whilst transferring information from AB, Gravatar etc. I know it`s not a problem with my computer because it is brand new. This is on Mozilla Firefox.

AB hasn't been too bad the last few days but now it's back to freezing all the time. Taken me few attempts to get this on as it keeps messing up. Still only a problem with this site. On other sites such as TripAdvisor I can have lots of windows open at the same time and no problem at all, but on here it freezes with just the one open.
