why should one promote it? It's overpriced, uncomfortable and unreliable
Very over priced.

In terms of HS2, it's certainly being promoted, though more people don't seem to want it than do.
"It's overpriced, uncomfortable and unreliable" Really! Millions of passengers must have it wrong then! They're running at full capacity with the numbers wanting to use them increasing every year.

They need little or no promotion.
It doesn't need to promote itself, it's an essential mode of transport for a great many people on a regular basis.

Why do you ask?
"They're running at full capacity with the numbers wanting to use them increasing every year. "

exactly my point - uncomfortable. Try getting on a train to a london station in time to get to work, and then tell me if you like standing for an hour or so. I was on the train the other day - no seats as usual and then there was some sort of breakdown = 3 hours standing altogether. And for the privilege i paid just over £2 per mile covered. That one journey proved all 3 of my points!
sorry, i worked that out wrong :) £.50p per mile covered
Regularly travel by train (not usually during commuter time), uncomfortable, seats not meant to be sat on for more than 10 minutes, cold if not packed and no seats available.
I dion't think "wanting to use" the trains is the right expression.
"Finding no viable alternative" might be nearer the mark.

Im looking into the opinions of others for part of my research for my coursework. My main focus is how train travel is promoted in terms of media - ie. Posters/Adverts etc. I'm trying to find out if people think there is a lot of promotion for trains in that sense. Thanks
busy, overpriced, and confusing,
posters in stations, for discounted tickets, third off promotions, that sort of thing, online info, I don;t think they really need to do much promotion seeing as how many people have no choice but use the trains.
As well as it needs to be. Is it not the case that it is already congested and difficult to put more trains through the system ?
