Who'd have thought it?

At the General Election televised leaders debate, Clegg did very well, probably beating both Cameron and Brown. Now in the EU debate, the underdog Farage has won both debates. I must admit the result surprises me.

Yes Farage is prone to the odd gaffe (as are most politicians who don't rehearse too much), Gromit, but he's fairly sound on the basic important stuff. Clegg suffers in EU arguments because he mistakenly believes that the scaremongering drivel he spouts is actually true. It's always difficult to convince people that incorrect information is true. He...

NJ was it something i said, or do you roughly agree. x
Is Mr Farage correct when he said something about the rise of the extreme / ultra right, in the Euro-zone in recent years?.

And to describe UKIP as ultra-right is surely something only a spoilt westerner would say.
Very well put, emmie, I totally agree.
that the far right in other countries, not least France has been emerging out the wood work is something i predicted some time back, and was roundly poo poohed, and the far right in a number of other countries are not far behind, why is this a surprise for anyone. Its not what one wants, but it isn't surprising
Thanks for the link emmie. I've no great knowledge of politics, but surely with Labours mass immigration along with a delicate economy is a recipe for a rise in ulta-right groups and disaster?
one hopes that it doesn't end badly, but its not just the far right, the far left are every bit as bad, their idea of a utopian ideal is another absurd fantasy.
France has a useless PM - a socialist, that should be a lesson for us, those who want to whack up taxes for the so called rich, usually ends up costing the poorer element, as the rich then simply *** off elsewhere, if they only learn that be fair to people, and they will stay and pay their way, punitive taxes makes them go i'm offski
Well, hopefully Labour don't get back in !
NJ, I didn't forget to mention any other countries, I just mentioned Farage's examples of successful small countries, one of which was a failure and another of which has possibly the least typical economy in the world in order to highlight Farage's disingenuous cherry picking.
actually Farage quoted two countries, and Clegg was quoting it back to him and got one wrong, if you watch the link
Emmie French socialism cannot be compared with UK socialism, not even the modern version. All successful French politicians come from the same exclusive clique. They are all wealthy, all inhabit suit land and only consider the populace when they threaten riot or revolution.
Totally unlike UK politicians, of course !!!

No emmie, I don't roughly agree, I absolutely agree. Welcome to the fruitcake club :-)
we can form a new party and really stir things up, the FU club, Fruitcake United Club in case you wondered.
its worse than monopoly, at least that is only a game, and you can go past Go or even land in jail, give you time to reflect on the folly of this mad club
