Don't waste any time looking for a communist with a small 'c'. It is much easier than you expect - since you must already have worked out how to compress the over-long answers, have a look in those parts of the grid.

Yes, the letters need to be lower case to be used correctly with the compressions

Boreas - I can see only ONE horizontal compressed answer 26ac - which do you think is the other one - I'm sure there is only one.

Mrcroft, excuse me butting in. I no longer have the paper so can't give specifics - but there were two (similar) compressed areas. One was around the middle, the other was at the bottom.
