When Will This Sore Throat Go ?

Further to my recent question I still have this sore throat, stopped coughing thank goodness but throat still raw, seems to be spreading to ear. Dr checked it a couple of weeks ago and didn't seem worried, could it still be this virus ? As mentioned before my immune system isn't too good. Still taking the zinc every day. Should I keep taking paracetamol, or dispersible aspirin?

Do you get hay fever or any effects from tree pollen (prevalent at the moment)?

BTW - I wouldn`t take either if I had no inflammation or a high temperature.

I am gargling with TCP in the middle of the night every night when it gets really bad , it helps but then comes back next day ... No hay fever. Thanks all so far ..

Try gargling with Oraldene, it's very effective. I think TCP is too harsh and makes the throat more raw.

Yes it could still be viral in origin and yes continue the pain killers......BUT............do you have any difficulty in swallowing and do you feel that you have something stuck in the throat?
Which ear is painful or is it both?

Throat a bit better today but doesnt mean it wont come back tomorrow ... Seemed to be creeping up to my right ear ( left when looking at me) but not so bad today. Did feel like there was lump but again, better today. It lasts so long this virus, you feel like it's going to last forever !!!

OK smurfy, it does sound like a virus, but if the symptoms haven't gone by Monday, then see your GP again.

Almost gone now tho I still have the tickly cough.. This is how it all started ...

Had it all the while I was in Portugal a couple of weeks ago, and I had laringytis halfway through holiday !!
