An Eye For An Eye!!!
I hadnt caught the droogz involved

and that is because it is Cocktail X
made up of droogz A, B and C and the names are confidential to repvent legislation to put them out of business

C - has to be a muscle relaxant

It seems the drip 'tissued' [= didnt work as it wasnt in a vein ]
The prisoner 'went to sleep' and they thought oh he is anaesthetised
but then he was rousable
and then roused.

anaesthetic mark 0 /10

at present an appeal on 'cruel and unusual punishment' I would have thought has to succeed

If you are quoting the bible Caribeing, what about turning the other cheek.
Old Testament - 'eye for an eye', or New - 'turn the other cheek' - there is something there for everyone to spin things their own way.

A good reason to ignore it as far as I am concerned!
Jeza, your humanity shines

people do seem to have fairly fixed views about capital punishment and I think in America it's as much about populist politicing as justice

this seems barbaric and - on the part of the state- desperate to me
Viv, I too have seen no one defend this murderer, I have however condemned a society that chooses to use the death penalty then botches it up.
The subject of this thread is such that I don't believe anyone's initial feeling will be swayed. So be it. Furthermore, I don't believe that anyone should be judged for their opinion.

I only mentioned my own sadness because a poster did say 'how would you feel if it was a member of your family' Maybe I should have kept my mouth shut.
Nothing that anyone does will make me feel that the death penalty is right.
You have been open and honest in your posting, Jeza. You are more than entitled to your opinion.
Execution = Killing
Unacceptable
My Step-Son was also murdered, he was stabbed through the heart while he slept on a friends sofa. Not myself or his Mother wanted the guy killed, we did however want him punished severely.
It's worth noting that not all States in the USA have capital punishment, stands at 32 at the moment according to Wiki.

they have been talking about this on tv this morning and it was inhuman but then so was burying a woman alive the crime he was convicted for, she must have suffered horribly too.
Dee Sa - I don't think anyone would argue that the crimes committed for which capital punishment is the sentence are anything less than horrific but -

if we are not careful, we loose our sense of morality and perspective by joining the killer on his or her level by killing them in turn, without the proviso of mental illness, provocation et al - we are killing someone in cold blood using a barbaric system, and that cannot be right in any civilsed culture.
Oh andy, don't you get fed up of repeating the same thing over and over again ?? I get it, you don't approve of capital punishment !! Bloody 'ell .....
viv38 - "Oh andy, don't you get fed up of repeating the same thing over and over again ?? I get it, you don't approve of capital punishment !! Bloody 'ell ....."

Actually, no i don't, because my point is not about my personal view of capital punishment, which is known to anyone who knows me at all on here.

My argument is with a society at large - specifically parts of the USA - wo believe that this is the behaviour of a civilisec culture, when in my view it merely drags that culture down to the level of its capital criminals.

So my point is not to do with my personal view, it is trying to advance the point that capital punishment does not belong in a civlised society.
locking them up for 23 out of 24 hours does though, is that what is considered civilised, those prisoners who are in for life, no chance of ever getting out.
Just be reading more details about this terrible situation, Lockett's lawyer who saw the execution said he had been tortured to death, same death he inflicted on his victim Stephanie, shot her with a sawn off shotgun and watched as she was buried alive she was also tortured!
