My neighbour has recently started throwing my cat's faeces back into my garden, which lands on a paved area near our kitchen. I have 2 cats, 1 year old, and I suspect that they have been fouling in his garden for a couple of months. There are of course many other cats in the area, so I am assuming it is my cat's mess that is being thrown over the fence. I have not had any historical issues with this neighbour and would like to talk to him about this problem when I have some knowledge of where I stand legally. I understand that there are no laws specific to the owner being responsible for it's cats behaviour, but surely he cannot behave in this way. Any advice or guidance would be great.

Cats like freshly dug earth, so try getting your spade out and creating an area in your garden that is appealing to your cats to use.

if you trim your neighbors trees that overhang your property, you are obliged to return the clippings to him, as they are his property. It seems to me the same with cat mess.
I wait until the spring and then collect a bucket full and ask the neighbors to sort out which is theirs and take it away. so far no takers. strange that.

Darren, ask the neighbour if he knows for a fact that it is your cat doing the fouling, if he says yes then offer to go round a couple of times a day to scoop it up yourself rather than have it flung into your garden where it could hit someone if they happen to be outside.

I am now looking for an answer for my cat's neigbour pee and poop. I have seen the cats peeing and pooping in my backyard. They don't dig their poop.
The neighbors association from my neighborhood has a webpage were several neighbors have complained about the cat's problem.
They leave a very unpleasant smell all around any person's house. I have a dog. I've been having very bad odors before having a dog (don't try to blame my dog). I don't take my dog to walk and poop in neighbors gardens or front yards. That's being very unconsiderate as a neighbor. If I were your neighbor, would you like me to take my dog and let her poop in your garden or yard? And leave the poop?? I don't think you'll like it.
I don't have any problem with any neighbor if the dog or cat pops and they pick the mess. The problem they don't pick the mess. They are animals, I recognize that but they have an owner.
If I were you, I would take responsabilities over my cat. People who don't have animals don't have the responsabilities of picking and cleaning someone else poops from their backyards. I have just telephoned the Police as I have picked up 3 lots of cat poo off my drive! dumped here by my next door neighbour, the police have informed me its illegal to dump any cat or dog faeces on any ones property and in the street whether it is from my cat or not! I have four cats two indoor and two outdoor cats. Been informed to give it back which I have done and left a note. I will wait for the outcome as she got in her car and drove off after she dumped it next to my car. I will probably get a back lash. But it is illegal!
