Definitely a tough one to get into.

I was going along nicely, solved a few clues and got what I thought was the correct code only to find I've made a slip somewhere.

I think the logic is pretty much wrapped around getting the mappings and once this has been done the puzzle gets much easier.

Anyway, I'm not going to backtrack tonight. My head has fried enough for one session.

Finally got there with many silly slips along the way. Did get myself very confused about which numbers were already coded and which not in my entries. Like other correspondents it was amazing how few and very sparse indicators allowed one to fill the grid step by step.
Glad to see I'm not the only one posting at this late stage of the week with the news that I too have *just* completed it! Like others, I found that each step required a new process of analytical thinking; unlike others, my only feeling is of relief, although I won't be so churlish as to withhold admiration of Zag's achievement. Glad to have half of this year's numericals out of the way now.
Hi All. I did not manage to pick up the paper containing this puzzle. I'd be very grateful if someone could please send me a copy at [email protected]. Thanks.
Thank you Jim360!
You're welcome. Enjoy!
Phew! That was hard work for ageing grey cells. One joy of the Listener is the occasional reassurance that one has not yet completely lost it. I suppose that the time will come when Countdown is the limit. Meanwhile, Bring It On ! Yes, numericals too.
