Car Insurance And Road Tax

Hello All,
I own a 2002 Ford Focus which at the moment is road taxed to end of June and Mot'd untill December. It is currently not used and siting idle on my driveway.
The Focus is not my main vehicle, I have a newer car with full comp insurance. I want to get the Focus retaxed another 6 months but of course I cant get it retaxed without it having insurance. Does anyone know if I can get the Focus legally retaxed before it expires so I can sell it later in the year?

You could send the current tax back and then re-tax it from the beginning of May. As long as the insurance is valid on the day you re tax it and on the day it starts 1st May.

Thank you Eddie, I acquired the Focus uninsured. That's the problem.

When we renewed our tax end of last month the Post Office didn't want to see the MOT or Insurance certificate. They said they no longer need to see them as any one like the police or others who need to check them can do so themselves these days. On the renewal form it just says that the vehicle needs insurance if it is on the road or public place, so you may be able to renew it without insurance.

^^ they don't need to see them as they are on the computer system which they use to process the transaction. There used to be a scam where a forged / cancelled insurance certificate was used to get a tax disk at the post office, that scam no longer works.

yes you can tax it legally but it's a bit iffy when the insurance expires but if you put it on your drive and take the plates off and keep the tax disc indoors then it will look like a project/broken down, then you'll be fine. Still technically wrong but no one will bother.

sorry misread your post. when you said retaxed before it expires I thought you meant before the insurance expires. No you won't be able to tax it without insurance.

The Batmobile has problems that need to be resolved before it is sold. The Joker made me an offer for it but it wasn't funny.
