Why Was Jesus So Ignorant If He Ever Existed?
34 Answers
If JC was the Son of God and a part of the Holy Trinity then he should have been OMNISCIENT but according to the bible he never exhibited any knowledge beyond what one would expect from a carpenter's son. Not even a word about Genesis, nor Jewish history, things he should have been an expert in.
In fact his impact on Judea was so slight , he was not mentioned by a single prominent official nor any contemporary historian until Mark, who didn't know him, more than 30 years later .

'Kenneth Alfred "Ken" Ham (born 20 October 1951) is an Australian-born young Earth creationist, living in Kentucky, USA, who is the president of Answers in Genesis , a Christian apologetics ministry which operates the Creation Museum.
Ham is a former high school science teacher who advocates a literal interpretation of the Book of Genesis. His claim that the universe is 6,000 years old, based on his interpretation of the Bible, is contradicted by evidence from astronomy and from the Earth's fossil and geological records.'

pugwashjw //Jesus was probably NOT given all the information of his former existence,//
....probably because there was no former existence. I think it possible that God was the commander of a craft from another planet, and the 'angels' his crew. Gosh! How fanciful is that? Not nearly as fanciful - or as unlikely - as the notion of a supernatural creature, at the behest of another supernatural creature, being born on earth in the form of a human being.
Khandro, I too think it possible that Jesus was educated in the East.
Modeller, Khandro says your link is to Ken Ham, a well known religious nut, so I haven't bothered with it. I know what he says. I still don't understand the reasoning behind your question. How can we know the extent of Jesus' education? He left no record, so all we have to go on are bits cobbled together by his 'biographers', none of whom knew him. If you think your argument is likely to convince the faithful otherwise, you should think again because, according to some, a biblical day doesn't equal 24 hours. Absence of evidence doesn't constitute evidence of absence.

It is thought by some (me included) that there was extensive Buddhist influence on the life and teachings of Jesus, that he was brought up by the Therapeutae, missionaries to the Bible lands from the Therevada school of Buddhism, and that his spiritual development was continued by the Buddhist-influenced Essenes and Mandaeans.
Khandro So what are you trying to prove ? That it is all a load of garbage , .
Well , at least , that's something we agree on.
The fact that you Buddhists agree with parts of the bible and other faiths and even some science is hardly a profound revelation. That covers everything.
The Bottom Line of my OP was ' Why was JC so ignorant about the creation/ history of the 13 billion year old Universe and the 4 billion year old Earth ' .
That is the crucial question for the simple fact that billions of lives have been/are based on the ignorance of one man, who may not even have existed in the way he is portrayed .

Naomi Since when have you ( i assume ) or me ever believed we can convince a believer of anything ? You can not convince them because they NEED to believe . They don't WANT to consider a life without the crutch of a belief.
However we are not born with any belief , that develops and changes according to our culture , character and experience of life. I
As I was told recently by a strong theist " My faith gives me great comfort and strength to face life . " " Your scientific world frightens me ."

You know in the daily affairs of life, wisdom dictates that one should not be overly concerned about what others say. Our ‘not giving heed to every word that people speak’ prevents us from taking needless offense or having our pride fed. At the same time we can profit from valid criticism, by endeavoring to make improvement. And, by preserving fine conduct, we can silence the ‘ignorant talk of unreasonable’ persons.
