I have two digital radio's. To me they don't sound any better than an ordinary one. One was a competition prize, the other cost about £130.

I have a HD TV connected to Sky HD wifi digibox. To me the picture is no better when viewing in HD. Am I deaf and blind or do others think the same.

Glad I'm not on my own Tony.
I am a fan of DAB radio, so much clarity, though I only listen to R4.
I can tell the difference with my HD viewing, whether that is with my partial sightedness or not I'm not sure.
I'm with ferlew... Love my Pure radio and R4
I don't have HD bit I do have a DAB and a normal radio. They both sound the same to me but the DAB one is more temperamental - more prone to interference and switches stations on its own.

My DAB often goes silent for a minute or two.
i generally listen to radio 5. The sifgnal is much better at home (DAB) than in my car
We have sky HD, there is a difference, there's a sharpness to the picture that isn't there in the ordinary TV. I noticed it more when we first got the HD box and telly, don't really pay too much attention now but I prefer to watch digital.
Radio reception in this area is dreadful so I'm glad to have digital radio too
Jeza, I have noticed my DAB cuts out if the phone rings.
I think HD looks much sharper on the tv. I only listen to the radio when I'm in my car, so that depends on reception.
Before I got my DAB I was convinced that Bonnie Tyler was singing about a "Hard Egg" !!
And that the Bee Gee's in How Deep Is Your Love were going to "come to me in a submarine" !!
So money well spent in my opinion !!
Sadly if anyone tells you that the UK's DAB system has better sound than FM, they are lying. Far more stations have been crammed in than the system was designed for, and apart from BBC Radio 3 the sound of all DAB stations is much worse than FM if you have good reception. With DAB, data rates are so low that all of the high frequencies have to be filtered off, so the clarity and 'sparkle' to the sound are seriously impaired. And most DAB stations in London now broadcast in MONO, compared with the high quality stereo of FM and of all other modern music reproduction systems.

If you ever hear anyone claiming that DAB is always better than FM, ask them if they think it's better to have music in mono rather than in stereo. Radio over the internet has the potential to give much better sound quality, and it's quite likely most radio listening will be done using a system similar to this in the future. The UK's DAB system is obsolete, and has been rejected in most countries in favour of something better, such as DAB plus.

DAB
Doesn't Always Broadcast

I don't have a dab, but I wonder if it would it save me trying to remember where to find the different stations if I wanted to change from Local to radio 4? Does it have channel numbers like a TV?

We got a digi one and can't get our local station on it!
