The game has now closed and I can reveal that the expected links were:

BASE CAMP
COAL FIRE
ICE CREAM (what else in this summery weather)
BIRD'S NEST

You have all done very well again this week with several double-hitters and a couple of triple-hitters

Details below.

BigMac kicked us off with BIRDS NEST and along with Rockfordill, Owllady, Cliffyg and Tearinghair collected two points each.

Ulysses100 was the first to respond to the jingle of the ICE CREAM van and within two minutes, Grannydi, Jobjockey and Roslyn251254 had joined the queue (2 points each).

Grannydi was also the first to arrive at BASE CAMP to be joined almost immediately by Jobjockey, Roslyn251254 and Seekeerz - all for 2 points again.

Grannydi was also first to light the COAL FIRE - the least popular link this weekend.

With all four links discovered in the first two minutes, later players were only able to pick up singles but some claimed multiple singles with Roopower claiming three for herself. Unfortunately, she wasn't the only triple-hitter as the observant amongst you will have realised that Grannydi was also a triple-hitter and on full bonus points as well so that makes her my HotShot choice this weekend.

In summary, this weeks scorers were:

When those are added to the leaderboard, we get the top looking very exciting with 5 players neck and neck in front and a whole bunch more just behind. It really could be anyone's championship next weekend.

Thank you once again for kind comments on the photos. I have started to work on the photo of overwinterers and clean off all the coffee and chemical stains, swab over the blotchiness and suture the cracks. You should then be able to recognise me more easily.
I have added it to the same page. Here is the link again:

I have prepared another set of photos to accompany the final week's game, but you'll just have to wait to find out if I am being generous or not with the links.

So, until next week then:
Same time (9am)
Same place (Q&P)
Happy Linking

Twix, I have now seen the photo you posted on Friday evening - in fact it was also in the Daily Telegraph last week as well. Thank you.
Thanks gen. Didn't get a single one :-(
moi aussi...!
Thank you King Penguin. The more I see your photos, the more I think the judges at your exhibitions must need an eye test. What are they looking for, for heaven's sake, that you don't provide? Art, composition, light and shade, you name it, it's there!
They are stunning, aren't they, tearinghair? I can't see how they could be bettered, myself.
Three this week! Shame I couldn't get in earlier. Thank you
Gen2, I originally saw the photo of the gentoo walking on water in the DT, and I thought of you.

You're making a good job of cleaning up the overwinter photo, but doesn't one of the met men rather stand out! Why are you all wearing jackets, collars and ties, was it normal dress code, or was the local harem being flown in for the weekend?

Twix, If you look closely you will se Christmas decorations hanging above our heads, but no, it wasn't Christmas. Christmas falls in the middle of summer just when the supply ship comes in and everything for the year has to be off-loaded The planes are also in operation. In other words - 'Busy'.
The bases therefore celebrate 'Midwinter's Day' as a surrogate Christmas with a formal meal and token presents. We dressed up for the occasion and took the official base photo the same afternoon.
