Black Worktop Query

I had black laminate worktops put in with my new kitchen in 2008. I have recently noticed that the area that surrounds the sink looks like it has been stained by water. It has given the area a greyish look, almost as if the colour has been washed away. Is there any way I can return it to it's original state? TIA
