Artistic Plastering
2 Answers
hello,
Q: Does anyone know where it's possible to learn how to do artistic plastering/mouldings?
I have found some plastering courses, but these do not teach how to do cornices, corbels and so on - just standard plastering.
Is it something that any plasterer can do, or does it require extra skills?
Many thanks in advance.

As I said on your other question, get the basics down first. It's not essential, but a good understanding of the processes and the behaviour of the materials is a good start.
Ornate work with fibreglass moulds and running moulds (long straight bits) uses different, hard-setting materials. Specialist companies, as in the one Zacs mentioned, might only consider the full apprenticeship route.
Once you're in the Industry, you could always practice in your own time, until you're confident enough to take on the odd, simple job. There are plenty of books and Youtubes I'm sure.
