Atos Decision Refused Benefit

I asked advise on behalf of my sister:

She has now had the medical assessment and her benefit will stop as she was awarded only 6 points. 15 points are needed to qualify.

She is going to appeal but needs help. Does anyone know of any association that will advise/guide her through the process? She is prepared to pay.

Hi hc,unfortunately so many people are being refused now,ATOS have now at long last been seen as unfit for purpose,6 points is rather a long way off the required limit but an appeal is worth a try!It may be worthwhile asking her doctor for medical back-up or any carer etc,good luck,it can be a long process.

Please dont give up! I represented someone who was awarded 0 points! Appealed and got 12 then went to Tribunal and succeeded in obtaining another 3 to meet the criteria.So,it is possible to defeat a terribly unjust system.I wish you all the best...

Well I am staggered by today's news. She phoned them on Wednesday to lodge her 'mandatory reconsideration' in order to lodge an appeal. Today she had a letter saying that she is to keep her benefits.

Happy for her, but very surprised

No I am not - two thirds of decisions are being overturned

which means that the assessment process is roughly twice as exxpensive as budgeted, and THAT is why ATOS has been fired....
