Fungus Growing On Tree Trunk
13 Answers
Does fungus on a tree trunk mean that the tree is dying? We have a beautiful false acacia tree which is over twenty years old. It has small mushroom type fungus growing around the base and partway up the trunk.

Hi Tilly,
Without seeing a detailed photo of the fungi, I wouldn't like to speculate what it is an whether it is likely to kill your false acacia, (Robinia pseudoacacia) as there are so many varieties of fungi it could be.
I think that contacting a certified arborist would be a good idea, your local council might be a good starting point.
Good luck - Chip.
