My cheese scones are very hit and miss since I had a fan assisted oven.
Has anyone got a perfect recipe for well risen yummy cheese scones they could share please? I would be very grateful :)

6 oz S R Flour
Pinch salt and pepper
1 Tsp mustard powder
1 oz margarine
3 oz cheese grated
2 Tablespoons milk
Heat oven to 220 C Grease baking tray
Mix flour and seasonings, rub in marg. Stir in cheese reserving a little for the top
Mix to soft dough with egg and milk reserving a little for glazing
Ross out to a round (1/2" thick) and cut into 8 triangles.
Brush with egg and milk and sprinkle with cheese. Bake for about 10/15 mins until golden brown.
I sometimes use a scone cutter. I also reduce the time as I have a fan assisted oven or take the temperature down to 190.

Thanks all for your suggestions, I used the BERO recipe Maggie last time I made some and for some reason they didn't rise very much. I have come to the conclusion that it's my oven, it's a (foreign) Gorenje model, there are far too many settings on it and the instruction book is totally incomprehensible!
I won't give in though, I will try another batch using your recipe maggie and if they don't work I may just visit Lidl (thanks for that tip jenny!)
