Hi Everyone, I have cold sores the whole length of my top lip (Im badly run down at the minute). But they came unexpectedly through the night, so didn't catch them on time to use Zovorix. The thing is, Zovorix doesn't work too well once the cold sores have come out, does anyone know what cream I should buy now. Dont really want to spend the weekend looking like I have a small country extended to my lip.

Thanks

I find Zovirax is the only thing that helps, whether I caught it time or not. If I've left it too late I still use it as I find it sooths the sore and helps it clear up quicker. Last time I had a really bad cold I'm sure i got some coldsores up my nose!!! I don't know if that is possible but that's what it felt like and they really hurt.(ouch!)

I don't know if there is anything else you can buy.

try soothelip, i think its sold in boots.

I use zovirax too,but i never get the tingling before, just BANG and coldsore is there!!

i used to get sold sores, and this won't help short term but i take a zinc supplement and touch wood i havent had one for over a year now!!!

There isn't anything that works better than zovirax (acyclovir) cream, and It will help them heal sooner. Unfortunately they do take a while to heal, but you can help this by trying to get some sleep and avoid alcohol. If they get really bad your GP can give you acyclovir tablets.
I wouldnt wish cold sore on my worse enemy
