Much has been discussed about Britain's foreign policy but where do we really stand with the US and indeed the rest of the world? With the current terror threat we have seen ISIL dictating the news machine. Massive challenges ahead - can Cameron and co rise to the challenge?
Just a general comment prior to looking at link. All counties look after their own interest first. That doesn't mean we don't feel in sync / closer to some than others. But the question is whether that is felt more by the general populous than the authorities, and how much affect it really has. I think we have a decent relationship with the US, the fact that they almost speak English helps. They are like a wayward bigger sibling whom we try to advise but who often wishes to go their own way.
As I recall, the phrase was first used by Churchill in 1946. Audie Murphy didn't win the War single handed, as Hollywood would have us believe but without the Yanks we might all be speaking German now. We share lots of things together, although not always a language, as the Yanks seems to have gone off on a tangent all of their own ! We have broadly the same aspirations in life don't we ?
Cameron will of course 'rise' to the financial institutions that run the planet...... and also bark in our name at US instructions.
Your link has the effrontery to state "Mr Obama, the most reluctant and isolationist of US presidents of recent times" ........ when 'The US Is Now Involved In 134 Wars' !!!
