An thoroughly enjoyable series with an excellent performance by Sheridan Smith. However last night's episode was spoilt by the seen at the secret gay club showing men kissing and groping each other. It wasn't necessary to be so graphic, especially as there were probably a lot of elderly people watching it as the subject is from their era. In fact it made my stomach turn, if I had been watching it with my elderly mother I would have been embarrassed. Of course now I will be accused of being homophobic but i don't really care. Anyone out there agree with me (if you dare).

I missed most of last night's so didn't see that scene. However I love Sheridan Smith's singing voice and wonder what Cilla (who can't sing) thinks about it !

I thought the scenes in the gay club were OTT and ridiculous, and I did know, and worked with, a few gay people in the 60's when homosexuality was illegal. I think they would have been mortified to be portrayed like that.....

Well I am over 60 and was around in the 60's... I must say it didnt worry me at all watching that scene...For goodness sake noone bats an eye when a girl and a boy kiss. so why worry about two men or boys..This is 2014 and I am pleased to say we should have all moved on and taken this in our stride. My husband doesnt like to see two men kiss but never says anything if it is two women.? But we do know some Gay men and women and find them such good company to be with... Dont you ever remember being embarrased to see a sex scene when you are with your parents or someone older...????? long before it was two of the same sex doing it.? Things have changed ..we are all grown up now and should deal with it....There has always been Gay people ...and now thankfully they do not have to hide away as they did then...
Thankfully I will say again .
