Does anybody know of any decent software for editing photos. I want to be able to cut out objects after easily highlighting them as well as the normal editing features. I don't want to pay much over the sort of 40 price tag.

hi

i use a program called MGI photosuite, not sure how much this costs but dont think it costs much.

hopes this helps

According to the Gadget Show a free google programme was just as good as many paid for software, and easier to use.

It's worth a look!

Yeh thanks. Used to have an old mgi version but it was quite basic. Will have to look at a newer one.

I saw that gagdet show and have had a quick look at picasso. On the show he tried out how easy it was to select and cut out items but i can't remember which was the easiest. Will have to look up the web site.

Thanks for the quick responses

Try some of the free older versions of software on the Serif website.
There claimed to be close to Paint Shop Pro as far as functionality goes.

Here is the free serif site.

PhotoPlus 6.0 is on there for example.

A Digital camera mag I have lists three "budget" products, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Ulead Photoimpact and Paint Shop Pro but they are all above your price point.

Many digital photo mags and PC mags give away trial or demo software on their cover CDs or DVDs, why dont you try a few of those to see what you like best.

The gimp is very powerful (and totally free, both as in beer and freedom):

Btw, Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard (their Elements app being a cut down version that is still a great program). If you want to transform the Gimp that I sugest above into something that looks more like Photoshop (you may find it easier to use, as other programs model themselves roughly on Photoshop too), then you can download the equally free GimpShop:
