The last few times my sons been to the local swimming pool he's developed an itchy red rash with raised lumps. Sounds like he could be allergic to the chlorine. Is there anything he can use to releive the itching. I'm a bit concerned as we're going on holiday soon and he'll want to spend all his time in the hotel pool.

i had the same problem when i used the pool at our local gym but on holiday i had no rashes when i have used hotel pools. i found E45 worked really well as does a rich thick, body cream like vaseline derma care cream and shower well when your son leaves the pool. Maybe the chlorine levels are a lot higher in this country than abroad. My hair dresser told me to keep high lighted hair out of chlorinated pools as it acts like a bleach so it must have a harsh effect on the skin too.

Hope this helps a little

Oilatum gel is great for use in the shower. Rub it on and rinse it off after washing. You can also buy Oilatum shower washes, which are great for irritated or tight skin (and to make sure all the chlorine is well rinsed off). Follow with aqueous cream (E45 or Oilatum etc) and he'll be fine.

Thanks both of you for your answers.

Make sure he gets into the habit of taking a thorough shower after he gets out of the pool. That would probably help the most.
