TRAM looks good, although I'm not sure why the 'but not this year' bit is included in the clue

The old trams ran in Edinburgh until 1956, and the new trams started running in 2014, so 'not this year' would make sense if this was an old question composed in 1957, or a newish one composed in 2012 or 2013. Some quiz setters recycle old questions without checking them carefully enough.

Thanks Bert and shaney and factor fiction - i did look at the web and found out about trams as well. yes it probably is an old quiz being rehashed.
