Broadband problems
Hi there
Please could you tell me if it is possible to run a telephone extension off the same master phone socket that broadband is connected to?
Everytime I plug the extension in it says there is no dial tone for the broadband connection - when I disconnet the extension, broadband comes back!

your ADSL broadband modem cable should be plugged into the telephone socket via an ADSL Filter, (usually a small white box with a telephone socket and an adsl socket on it, if you are trying to use a double socket plug the double socket into the adsl filter not the other way round....
if you are getting this problem while doing this correctly then you have a faulty filter...usually you will have been supplied 2 of these with your broadband kit...use the other one or if you have no more, you can buy them from maplins/tandy/btshops or speak to your ISP and they might send you a replacement
I disagree.
The only way i got it to work was to plug the splitter in first, then the extension and a filter into this and a filter on the other end of the extension - I got 2 filters when i signed up.
Then you can plug phone and/or pc into both locations.
If I tried the filter before the splitter, it didin't work
