Anyone using BT Infinity find that they exceed the 20gb cap on the basic package. Or do they find it enough. Somebody just asked me if 20gb would be enough and I don't know as I am on unlimited.

''Somebody just asked me if 20gb would be enough''

Enough for what? Depends what they want to do and how much they want to do of it... watch live TV, download music/movies etc...
It depends on what they are going to do. Doing things like streaming movies or online game playing eats it up. if they just want to check emails, bank, shop, maybe buy a few e books or apps then it should be enough. I am not sure how much skype uses though. the other thing that i find eats data is monitoring my webcams. I set them up to keep an eye on the dogs while I am out.

It's video that eats data - an hour of standard definition TV is around 1GB - HD is nearly three times that.

So if your Sky box (or smart TV) uses the internet for 'catch up' services, you really must have an unlimited package.
It is enough as long as you don't watch any films or TV on it.

I think I will pass the message on to try the basic package with the 20 gb cap initially.
Having read the terms and conditions I have found that BT will email you when you get close to your limit. I suppose if you exceed your allowance, you can then upgrade to unlimited.
Many thanks for your replies, it's just something I have never thought about being unlimited myself. I've got a feeling the HD TV will eat up their allowance.
Thanks again.
BT do email you when you're getting close to your allowance, then if you go over, they charge you....so your friend will soon find out if they should upgrade or not.
I'm with TalkTalk (un;imited) and, if I go into my account, I can see my daily broadband usage for the current month. Do BT not give you access to your data usage in a similar manner?
Just out of interest, my usage is usually less than 1/2 MB per day without any films at all so, if your friend is going to be watching films or catch-up TV he might find 20GB/month is a bit tight.
Exceeding the monthly allowance will be charged as extra at £5.60 for every 5Gb that a user goes over their set allowance.

If you are streaming radio or TV, watching loads of youtube, or online gaming you might overdo it.
I'm the same as you, I have unlimited. It's my one luxury.
@methyl..Cheers. Thanks for correcting my error.

Pleased you found the link interesting.

2GB per month is more than enough for me, although all I do is email, browse the net and go on AB.
