Have been told a single Christmas dinner /lunch in a local hotel will set you back 95 quid. How can this be justified ? Is that norm and is there dearer .Maybe I've lead to sheltered a life.

The Steading Minty. Very busy placel. It was originally owned by a friend of mine, but he sold it because the by-pass was scheduled,and he thought that this would adversely effect his business. !! Not the best decision to make. Every time I visit it is packed to the doors.

My daughter works for a pub chain and is in Christmas Day, New Year's Eve etc and doesn't get paid anything extra so please give them a thought when you are tipping these lovely girls and boys who give up their Christmas to make everyone happy!

Why would you be under the impression that it has to be justified ? Fair price has never been an obligation in trade. Our society isn't that moral. Which is why some make fortunes, by doing what a reasonable person would define as overcharging. The seller 'chances their arm' and hopes enough of the public chooses to pay.
