Printer Settings

My grandson has a project where he needs for me to print a 6x4 picture onto a sheet of A4 paper/With an inch gap at the top and each side.No matter how I do the settings,the picture comes up smaller and in the top left corner.I'm using Vista and Paint and Adobe PS

Open a new Word document (or use any other word-processing program, such as OpenOffice Writer).

Set the top and left margins to 1".

Go to Insert > Picture > From File.

Navigate to the location of the image you require and double-click on it.

Resize (if necessary) either by dragging the corners or by right-clicking on the picture and selecting Format > Picture (or, in OpenOffice, just Picture).

Print as normal.

I've found Microsoft word processor put in my settings and the preview of them is exactly what I want,but it still prints small and in the top left corner.I'll be running out of ink at this rate.Thanks.

It sounds like you have the paper size incorrectly set in your printer properties.

Thanks Dave,the paper size is correct,for some reason the photo settings come up wrong size and wrong place.

Weird!

Get yourself a decent (free) desktop publishing program. It will enable you to print brochures, leaflets, Christmas cards and much, much more with ease (including what you want to do). I use Serif PagePlus Starter Edition:

Open a blank A4 document. (If you want the rulers to show inches, rather than centimetres, right-click on the 'L' where the rulers meet to choose that option). Go to Insert > Picture > From File. Navigate to the location of your image and double-click on it. Position your cursor 1" in from the top and left and left-click. Drag the corners, to resize if necessary. That should then print perfectly. (I used that program to design my Christmas cards, with multiple images, and everything printed exactly as it appeared on my screen).

Alternatively get yourself a decent (free) office suite and follow the instructions in my original post:

Apologies Dave when I said the paper size was correct,it was but on a second page of the settings I omitted to set that one as well.So I now have what I wanted.Thanks BC for all your info I'll look into it later I've had just about enough for one night.Thanks to you both,,
