Steven Gerrard says being told he will start fewer games is the main reason he has decided to leave Anfield for America in the summer.

Gerrard will join a Major League Soccer (MLS) club at the end of the season.

The midfielder told Liverpool's website: "The key conversation was when the manager sat me down and said it was time to manage my games. It was a very difficult conversation to have. I'm bright enough to realise it is the right thing. I accept it."

Yeah...because he's leaving Liverpool. My son is 18, Stevie G has been there all his life. Everytime it comes on the news his bottom lip drops.

Gerrard would be first choice on any premier league teams starting eleven, it's just Liverpools way of saying they don't want to pay his wages anymore.

They had a chance of winning the league last season but slipped up, pun intended, but they cashed in on Suarez and now look at them.

Can't see him going abroad to be honest, he'll probably go to Chelsea and win the title he's been so desperate for.

LFC should change their motto to "God has bestowed these blessings on us, but money is more important"
