Or does it cross sectarian boundaries?
Protestants would drink it here in Belfast while Catholics would sip QC 'British sherry'.

Apparently there is a special version, made exclusively for the ROI, which instead of being a mind blowing 15% ABV is only 14.8%. That's why the southern Irish are such a placid people.
Sandy, did you know that Portadown has the largest number of consumers of Buckfast?

The good people of Portadown would think twice before neckin their tipple if they knew it was made by Fenian monks.
But after second thoughts they'd still drink on.
I think they just want to make a fast-buck ;-)
I was gobsmacked when in a (quite posh) cocktail bar in Edinburgh to see that they offered a cocktail made of Buckfast and Irn Bru.
Sadly I cannot remember what they called it and I certainly didn't try it.
So, it must be being drunk in the East.....or were they being 'ironic' ?
On that theme, Lady A, here's one that will really have folk sprouting hair everywhere.....

I've looked it up...it's called the Irn-Buckfaster and as well as Irn Bru and Buckfast it also has whisky in it....specifically Bells.
They must have been being ironic......or out to get a fast buck....see what I did there?
A bit of projectile vomiting too, DT, I'd say.
Apologies, ladyalex not mamya.... :-(
I'm ladyalex, boxtops, not mamyalynne.....but I'm flattered by the confusion.
remind me not to have what Lady A's been on...
or boxie...
Sadly have not had anything today....yet....but the night is yet young.
But, trust me, it will not include Buckfast, Irn Bru or Bells !
The connection between Buckfast and Portadown was memorably celebrated in Newton Emerson's wonderful Portadown "Four Ulsterbuses of the Apocalypse" News At the time I had no idea what it was but it sounded revolting :-)
And speaking of which here's a cartoon (!) Hope no one will be too offended

I've been on Beechams All in One, I am sure it's related to Irn Bru.
Well, Irn Bru is said to have medicinal qualities......but usually late on Sunday mornings and accompanied by paracetamol.....
Ichkeria, that might well be DTC's next avatar!
Have to say it's new to me... a choice of sectarian booze.... hmmm

Grew up in Ayrshire mired in the sectarian BS, to most booze was just booze as youngsters. I've never come across a divided booze structure before, doesn't mean it doesn't happen mor likely to be the cheapest lager folk can find
