Bt Phone Connection

I have recently installed a Vista PC & BT broadband Hub for a friend. She was originally using BT Dialup in the old computer & of course there is a phone cable that used to plug in to her old PC with a cube type male connection ( don't know correct name of connecting plug) . What I would like to know is can I get an adapter to enable me to plug in the normal spade type phone plug to add an extra phone near the computer ( at the moment the landline phone is in a different room to the computer) ?

What socket is the Hub plugged into.? I would have thought that the hub was connected to an ADSL filter (supplied with the BT Hub) and that is plugged into a telephone socket. The filter has a standard telephone socket as well as a socket into which the Router is connected.

If I or woofgang is misunderstanding the position, please give a bit more info so that at least one of us can comment further.

Thanks guys. I can see now that what I am after is an ADSL female to BT Standard female connector if such a thing is available. To explain further we have a cable from the Master socket in the hall to the lounge with an ADSL plug fitted on the end. So I would like to connect a standard plug in phone to it to then have an extra phone next to the computer, hope this makes sense to you. Tia.

I realise that I could use a ADSL filter to plug both plugs into but of course I have no where to plug in the tail of the filter.

Hi Ron...I'm back.

I am thinking that you need a telephone socket doubler in the lounge with an extension lead running to the computer and fitted with an ADSL filter on the computer end, as well as the one which is on telephone end.

It will help me to think further if you tell me how the Ethernet cable from the BT Hub is at present connected to the telephone circuitry.

I have an ADSL plugged into the first phone socket that comes into the house. One outlet has the wireless router plugged into it, so that permits WiFi laptop connection, the other outlet of the ADSL has a base station of a wireless landline phone plugged into it. The wireless phone can be used anywhere in the house, but it is just one part of a "quad-pack" so there are also three other wireless phones in the house whose bases are just battery chargers and they are positioned where ever they are needed. So, no need for any cables trailing from the first ADSL, and in fact only just the first ADSL needed. All 4 phones connect to the base station to use the land-line connection.
