Dear God...another One !

Mikey, I had a very male dominated life. I would hate to deny my children of such loving males because they fear that a relationship with a child would be looked at with suspicion. When I was 16 my dads mate (my mate) took me on holiday to Scotland to meet his mum. Single man, no kids, I was the closest to his own child he'd have. Nowadays that would be looked at with...

Ummmm...if you read the link I have provided, it would seem that Talbot is alleged to have committed some very serious offences. I am sure that men could be-friend their pupils, without stepping over the line as this chap has alleged to have done.
I used to be involved with Scouts a lot, in my 20's and 30's. I am still in touch with the Scout Leaders of that time, and they tell me that it is getting increasingly difficult to attract adults, especially men, to assist in all the various activities.
One reason for this is that Scouting work can mop up 100% of your spare time ! But it seems that another reason is becoming more common these days, and it is what you are alluding to in your post. "Chaperones" are now necessary for all activities, thus increasing the problem of finding enough volunteers.

Ummm/Mikey ...I know this first hand, I have in the past been involved in child-care and teaching but since paedophile hysteria kicked off properly - I haven't touched it with a barge pole and probably won't for the foreseeable future, it's a whole minefield of potential false allegations and suspicions.

When I was 16 my dads mate (my mate) took me on holiday to Scotland to meet his mum. Single man, no kids, I was the closest to his own child he'd have. Nowadays that would be looked at with suspicion. What actually happened is we had a great holiday and me and his mum got on like a house on fire (although I hated her cooking)
I just think it's such a shame that men are becoming scared to be friends/role models with/to children.
The sleazy stuff that has come out since the Jimmy Savile scandal has put men under needless suspicion....it's sad

Well, I've never heard of this bloke and I'm very, very glad that the current 'digging around' is bringing all this to the surface. I echo Ummm, children need good, male role models around and there are plenty of them. It is so desperately sad when children are so suspicious of adults.
2013 my little granddaughter suddenly needed to have a heart operation and I got the last seat on flight over in order to grandma-sit her 4 yr, old brother for a week whilst parents were at hospital. In all the chaos their young dog managed to escape and 2 little boys brought her back. I was very grateful, but was having problems trying to work the modern TV/CD system for my grandson so, inspiration, asked them if they could come in and do it and I'd get them an orange-juice and biscuit. Immediate cut-off, refusal and suspicion in their faces. Awful, it really is - and I'm a grandma!

Jourdain...that's awful.
One time my young daughter was on her scooter going to her cousins house (just down the road) and fell off grazing her leg and arm. I man ran over and picked her up, found out where she lives and brought her home. I opened the door to a stranger holding my daughter in one arm and her scooter in the other. All I seen when I looked at him was fear. I was thankful and grateful...he acted as an adult should when they see a child in distress.
