Carpet Cleaner....?

I need to clean a carpet, like deep clean it.

I thought about getting someone in to do it, but it will be much easier if I could do it myself, when the kids are in bed.

B&Q do one for hire, but I wondered has anyone used these and are they any good?

The carpet is in good nick, but has two make-up stains (looks like bronzer) which won't come out with a 'normal' carpet foam cleaner.

Even under our sofas where the carpet still looks new was filthy.

Once this carpet has had it's day I'm having floorboards.

Its the only room, apart from the stairs, that has carpet.

I have a carpet Numatic George shampoo/cleaner I've yet to use. Stored in the garage. Going to try it when I've got straight and finished all DIY and stuff. Although looking at my carpets I'm beginning to think they may be past cleaning and need replacing :-( I've no idea what much of the spots/stains are, or how they got there. They seem to just appear when one isn't looking. And previous attempts to spot clean seem to make things worse laeving the spot but making a light coloured patch around it !

That's what I don't like about living in a rented house. God knows what other people have been doing on those carpets before I moved in :o/

OG - We had a patches on our carpet that I was sure wouldn't come out. We treated them first with some of the solution and a scrubbing brush. All the stains came out.

I'm now thinking of banning drinks from the room. Or banning kids...
