Motorcycle layup
3 Answers
I've had a motorbike laid up for a few weeks now. The (unleaded) fuel was pretty low, but I didn't use any stabilising additive. Should I just start it up and see what happens, or get some additive in now, or what?

Go ahead, you will have no problems. My motorbike is lucky to get used once a month, less over winter! If laying up for several months, and more so in warm weather, there can be evaporation of the petrol leaving a varnish like residue inside tank/carbs etc. On rare occasions bits of this varnish flake off and cause blockages. A bit of a highjack (sorry) but why does petrol left in a can for years smell different - more oily?
