Hi there, I need some help please. I am getting married in March and we're having a band. The hotel (where we are having the wedding and where the band will be playing) say the band need to have public liability insurance (PLI) but the band are saying the hotel needs to have PLI. From doing some research online it almost seems like they both need to have PLI but I am a bit confused. Please can someone help? They are both pointing the finger at each other and I'm getting concerned we won't be able to have the band playing!

The Hotel will already have PL cover, but the band is nothing to do with the hotel, the band is coming into the hotel as YOUR contractor - so yes, the band will need its own cover as well (in case something happens e.g. band equipment causes injury to a guest, catches fire, etc.)

An injured person couldn't claim against the hotel if they were injured due to some negligence on the band's part - the band is nothing to do with the hotel, so they need their own insurance cover.
