Slow computer
Hey, i just got broadband for my computer and it all works fine but if i have an mp3 p2p programme running such as imesh or limewire it goes REALLY REALLY slow. I can't even surf the net because the windows take so long to open...then quite often when i try to close anything it takes ages and my comp gets brain dead! Is there anyway i can rectify the problem easily or any programmes i can download that'll sort it out...i know that it may be that i don't have enough memory but is there anyway of finding out what memory can be freed up etc becuase i'm sure it never used to be this slow...should i delete some of my mp3s and movies or do they not make a differnce?
Thanks

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.The easy answer is that most P2P progs allow you to restrict the bandwidth, for example in Limewire got to ''Tools'' then ''options'' then ''downloads'' see the option which says download bandwidth and set it to, hmmm... say half your available bandwidth. this should allow it to download in the background but still allow you access to the internet for other things like browsing.
You might want to play around with this setting to find the one which gives you the best results.
If so, how much RAM do you have? Right-click my computer, and click properties. At the bottom it'll say how much RAM you have. Also, what version of windows are you running?
