Savile Abuse: Stoke Mandeville Staff 'were Told'
Now they can name and shame the guilty ones at hospitals and the BBC who were told about Savile but did nothing. If we feel obliged to embarrass apparently negligent social workers when a child is harmed, how much worse are these cowards?
Some probably got OBEs for service (or disservice) and some may still wield some power. It's time to end their irresponsible use of authority. Weed them out. Give their Honours instead to the lower-ranked whistleblowers who have identified them. There should be no hiding place for those who let the victims down.

Does anybody else on here really think that Savile isn't guilty ? Stand up and be counted.

You're probably right but if I were the health or BBC kingpin I would be making enquiries and asking them to resign. Secondly, the media are pretty good at finding out who was where and when at Stoke M and will hopefully track them down. Some (now-)retired ex-employee will do as a whistleblower and they will do what good reporters do.
I have just listened to the Today Program.
A former female member of staff at Stoke Mandeville was being interviewed, and she still thinks Savile was wonderful. The presenter, Justin Webb
( I think ) gave this woman numerous opportunities to admit that although she saw nothing amiss herself, she now believed Savile to be the monster that he was. But she still refused to admit this.
So, is it any wonder that Savile got away with the appalling crimes he did and for so long ? Even now, when the evidence is overwhelming, there are still people around who bury their heads in the sand. I find that almost unbelievable, at least I did before I heard this woman being interviewed this morning.
It was said when the news first broke about Savile.........."why was nothing done" ? and "someone must have known" well we now know that health professionals WERE told, but decided to nothing, and as far as I am concerned they are no more than accessories to the crime itself.
The whole thing disgusts me.
The Report will be published at 09:30 this morning and it will be interesting to see if people are named. I think that it is essential that they are and that they should be brought to account ASAP, so that any reoccurrence of a similar nature is made less likely.

One of the biggest problems I have with all of this is that there has been no Court 'trial'
Forgive me, but I though a major premise of our land was 'Innocent until proven Guilty'
Now dont get me wrong, I have my own thoughts about what I would like to do to Saville, problem is those thoughts have been fed to me by trial by Media, which is a huge step in the wrong direction.
And how can we route out people for wrong doing if the alleged perpetrator has not actually been found guilty in a Court of Law (or what ever the method would be for dead people) ?

YMB....I partly and somewhat reluctantly agree with you.
But hopefully the Report, which will be published this morning, will go some way to explaining how this monster got away with his wickedness for so long.
He may be dead but a lot of guilty people are still alive and need to do some explaining. They need to explain why they took no action, thus allowing him to continue. Otherwise how are we supposed to prevent this happening again tomorrow ?
A point worth making here is that if he hadn't died, and the truth hadn't come out, he would still be prowling around the corridors of our Hospitals, and the BBC, committing his truly awful crimes, with complete and utter impunity.
