On AB, if you post a question, the chances are you'll get a tidy handful of prompt, helpful, often humorous replies. On certain other sites, the chances are you'll have gone to bed before anyone responds. Are ABers generally more helpful, more garrulous, more friendly, or what ?

I've always found Answerbank to be more helpful, fun and uplifting than other sites I've been on. But without researching it further I can't give an explanation as to why! So I guess the short answer is 'yes'. :o)

The respondents may well be, but some of the questioners are beneath contempt. No thanks, no patience (can't be bothered to check earlier posts, especially in Q&P), not even the awarding of stars (and I know I fail to do so sometimes - sorry!).

But, by and large, ABers' contributions are fast, factual, formative, funny or facetious and even, sometimes, furious... but usually good humoured.

A great site and thanks to everyone who's ever helped me... it really is appreciated.
