// The BBC will stop short of “empty chairing” David Cameron, even if he refuses to take part in any television debates, and is considering giving him his own election programme to meet strict rules on impartiality during election campaigns, The Independent on Sunday understands. //
Maybe gromit but I think this is more a case of the broadcasters realising that it does them no favours either. After the whole fiasco of these debates this time hopefully they'll drop the whole silly idea for future elections.
TTT...I hope they drop these debates as well but it still doesn't explain why all the others are willing to take part, but our PM is not. More mud will stick to dave than the broadcasters in this affair.
Mikey,
Cameron is the only one with something to lose from these debates. For everyone else, it is an great opportunity. For the Prime Minister it is a whole area of grief, potential gaffes and traps. The 2010 debates were first the nails in the coffin for Brown. Cameron does not want to be in his shoes this time.
It's obvious mikey, explained by me and others on here and demonstrated by Gordon Brown in 2010. The sitting PM has nothing to gain and everything to lose. He'll be ok in the mass bun fight with the also rans but will have nothing to gain from a 3 way or 2 way.Personally I would be happy with ED v Dave, full stop. The usual "running scared" *** flies but in reality Cameron is playing the game correctly for him.
