Yes slinky. I'd would say 10.00 an hour.
I have advertised in the local post office long ago too.
Oops! You want to hire one! 10.00 an hour is fair slinky.
Question Author
this is only for general housework,a couple of days a week
Yep, that amount x
You could also try Streetlife in your local area.
That's a great idea Margo!

margo what is street life ?
Sounds reasonable - ask for references, and take them up.
You need references slinky x
Snap Andy. Don't let anyone in to your home without references, and do check them up!
I'm in York and I pay £12.50 an hour, besides cleaning she does the ironing...
You'd probably get someone for £7.50 to £8.00 an hour here in Suffolk. (It's a low pay area here. If someone says they're getting £10 an hour they'll probably get a response along the lines of "Ruddy 'ell. Are you a doctor or summat?")
Round here the cheapest cleaner charges £10 an hour.Cleaning firms charge half that again. I live in a deprived area too. Disability living allowance is paid out to help towards these costs, and this is how they are intended to be used.
You could advertise on Gumtree and ask for quotes
